at GET Academy
Our TEFL (Trinity CertTESOL) Program is a rewarding teacher training experience designed to place candidates in an authentic teaching environment in the Austrian public education sector. The program combines the academy’s in-house TEFL-YL certificate and Trinity College London’s globally-recognised CertTESOL. Student teachers complete these two qualifications while teaching English to real Austrian students in real Austrian classrooms.
How To Become A Teacher
at GET Academy
The TEFL (Trinity CertTESOL) Program is a 3 – 4 month, entry-level EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teaching placement. The program aims to provide student teachers with a strong set of practical teaching skills to aid them in the sound application of contemporary language teaching methodologies. The approach to English language teaching emphasised on the program draws on a range of approaches and methodologies broadly considered to constitute best practice in contemporary language learning and teaching, especially for primary and secondary learners. This includes Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and Task-based Learning (TBL) within a communicative language teaching (CLT) framework.
While participating in the program, student teachers will visit dozens of schools, teach hundreds of students and accrue over 300 hundred hours of teaching practice with real students (including a minimum of 15 hours of observed and assessed teaching practice). The vocational nature of the program means that there is a strong focus on practical classroom experience. The GET Academy’s TEFL (Trinity CertTESOL) Program allows student teachers to put theory into practice during their teaching practice sessions at Austrian state schools and develop their theoretical knowledge of language teaching and learning from teacher training sessions at one of our three campus locations. By combining aspects of several established and respected approaches, the program aims to train new teachers to be adaptive to the contextual needs of the learners, the schools, the Austrian national curriculum, and the practices of learners’ main class teachers. Successful completion of the program will not only equip participants with the skills and qualifications to work in the ELT industry, but also instill in them the confidence and authority to be successful ELT practitioners across a variety of fields.
The GET Academy’s TEFL (Trinity CertTESOL) Program is run in partnership with Trinity College London and in accordance with the Austrian national curriculum for English. Upon successful completion of the program, participants who complete all the required coursework will be awarded a TEFL-YL Certificate and the globally-recognised Trinity CertTESOL. These qualifications, along with the program’s extensive practical experience and job placement program, gives participants a headstart over thousands of other job applicants and allows them to choose and follow their own professional pathways. Graduates will be trained to access sources of continued professional development and encouraged to continue developing as teachers long after they leave the program.
